Project “Blue Light”

Project “Blue Light began in 1988 when a surviving mother-in-law of a Philadelphia (PA) police officer killed in the line of duty would put a blue light in her window for the holidays in memory of her son-in-law. Police forces across Canada and the USA adopted her idea as a way to honour the officers who serve and protect us while remembering those who have been killed in the line of duty. A special service at Westminster on Sunday October 19th at 10:30 a.m. will honour our police services and include a memorial to those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty trying to keep our neighbour- hoods safe and free from crime. Representatives from the various police services will participate in the service. After the service a light lunch will be provided; the police representatives will be available to receive your good wishes and answer any questions that you may have. At this service, the Westminster family will be launching our “Light the Blue Light Challenge” hoping the whole community will join in by lighting and placing a single blue light in a window for the Christmas Season in memory of our fallen officers.

For further information about this service,
